about the project
The City of Olathe purchased the property in 1997 for a community park. The 42-acre community park was dedicated in 2003. The Master Plan was completed in 2000 to provide a plan for a signature park for the community. This included a reconstructed dam for the main pond, restored wetlands, an upper pond with a custom-designed waterfall, trails, and a great lawn leading to an amphitheater and stage at the water’s edge with flanking fountains. There were locations planned for outdoor sculpture rooms, open prairie, a lookout highpoint, and a prairie backdrop farmstead overlook shelter among many other elements and features.
